Kettle Valley Steam Train
The Kettle Valley Steam Railway showcases a unique part of the Okanagan’s and British Columbia’s history. Built during 1910- 1915, the KVR “Kootenay to Coast Connection” powered our pioneer fruit industry into world markets, transported our families on vacations and errands; created employment, hobos and stories that will be with us forever.
We invite you to join us on the only preserved section of this historic railway: Ten miles of beautiful vistas; from lush orchards and vineyards to a spectacular view of lake and land from the Trout Creek Bridge 238 ft above the canyon floor. The sight and sound of our restored 1912 Steam Locomotive the “3716” will bring the era alive as you ride along on this 90 minute journey in a vintage passenger coach or open air car. Maple Roch a Maple Store
Maple Roch’s owner, Roch Fortin says a tasting experience at Maple Roch Pure Canadian Maple Store is “like a wine tasting but with maple products!” “For example we have terrific homemade ice-cream including a premium vanilla version made even more special with our Maple Caramel and Sea Salt or our premium Maple Syrup as a topping.”
We are a social enterprise where we have engaged local artisans to create product with our maple syrup. We have over 25 products, all created locally. From cinnamon apple chips to vegan Maple Popcorn we specialize in a lot of vegan food. We have a best seller which is a Maple gluten free vegan granola created by a local farmer. We can’t keep it in stock!
There are a total of four different maple syrups including a brand new syrup made of maple sap and walnut sap mixed and boiled together for a completely unique flavour. Everybody loves our local maple syrup. We only get 22 litres of this one however. Bonus is that $5 of each sale goes to rebuilding our local pier from this one!
Try our darker syrup, the Amber Maple Syrup. It is a favourite of many chefs.

Zia’s Restaurant
Zia’s has been a fixture in Summerland for many years, becoming the most popular place to host birthday parties, anniversaries and family events. The fare is reliably consistent and portions are more than generous. The Ferlizza family are passionate about music, and jazz from local musicians is often a part of the Zia’s experience. Old family portraits of a few generations of Italian heritage create a warm family atmosphere and in winter the fireplace makes this cherished restaurant a delightful experience in old world charm.
