A passion for wine
Lightning Rock is a small family-owned winery creating 3,500 cases annually. Our focus is on stewardship of 16.5 acres of vineyard, where we maintain the vines in a holistic way to produce healthy, clean fruit. This way we can let the wine make itself, bringing you pure terroir in a bottle.
Working harmoniously with nature
While initially touring Elysia Vineyard (where the winery now rests) a large granite rock was discovered, perfectly split in half. Local rumours say it was hit by lightning during a spring storm. A true reflection of the land – perched halfway up this thermal producing volcanic ridge – it aligns perfectly with our desire to create electric, juicy wines.
Vigneron, Sébastien Hotte, is a graduate of Washington State University and a certified sommelier from the École Hôtelière des Laurentides who believes in low-intervention winemaking. Lightning Rock is known for crafting benchmark traditional method bubbles and Pinot Noir. Our team strives to work harmoniously with nature to express each vineyard in the glass. An exciting exploration of Summerland through grapes.
We are family and dog friendly. Tasting fees are $10 per guest, non-refundable.
In addition to day-time tastings, we will be hosting several exciting new after-hour events this year. Join us for live-music and food trucks on the last Friday of each month from May to October, movie nights on the lawn and pop-up dinners throughout the summer. and the venue is available for rent for weddings and special occasions. Visit our website to book your tasting and learn more.
