Raise a glass to these award winners

We’re raising a glass to wineries along the Bottleneck Drive that recently were awarded medals at the 2020 British Columbia Lieutenant Governor’s Wine Awards. These awards recognize excellence in winemaking for all licensed British Columbia wineries, and even though the normal bustling activity of the Okanagan Fall Wine Festival was subdued this year, kudos to the Okanagan Wine Festivals Society for keeping these prestigious awards going with 15 judges and hundreds of wines tasted.

Cheers to silver medal winners Lunessence Winery and Vineyards for their 2019 Blanc de Noirs Rosé and 2019 Riesling, Thornhaven Estates for their 2019 Pinot Meunier and 2018 Syrah, Fitzpatrick Family Vineyards for the 2019 The Lookout Riesling, Dirty Laundry Vineyard for a 2019 Hush, and Lightning Rock WineryLightning Rock Winery for their 2018 Canyonview Vineyard Pinot Noir.

Thornhaven Estates also won two bronze medals for their 2019 Pinot Gris and 2018 XV, while Silksarf Winery won three bronze awards for its 2019 Viognier, 2017 Ensemble, and 2019 Gewürztraminer. Heaven’s Gate Estate Winery brought home bronze for their 2018 Malbec and 2019 Sauvignon Blanc/Sémillon, and Dirty Laundry added to its medals with bronzes for the 2019 Riesling, 2018 Malbec, and 2019 Reserve Chardonnay.
